Each song plays out as a dramatic event in this unique musical revue, staged in more than 250 productions worldwide since its initial off-Broadway run in 1977. Critic Martin Gottfried called the authors “a team of formidable talent and theatrical flair.” The title song and another number, “What About Today,” have been recorded by Barbra Streisand, among others, and the original cast album was nominated for a Grammy.
