“The Baker's Wife”
The new baker arrives in a rural French village just in time to ease the pains of the contentious villagers, who have been without bread for weeks. All is well and everyone's spirits are rising until the baker is driven to distraction and the villagers suffer the fate of breadlessness once again. From Broadway dynamos Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Children of Eden, and now Wicked) and Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof, Rags, su) comes this wry musical comedy about jealousy, lust, revenge, forgiveness, and... pastries. The Philadelphia Inquirer raves, "A charming fable gets its day to shine. A lively, ingratiating portrait of the sort of town encounterd only in fairy tales. It is a place well worth your visit!"
