This play, long considered one of the greatest plays in American Literature as well as one of Williams’ best plays, tells the tale of the Wingfield family: Tom, the narrator and prisoner of his existence; Laura, his sister who seeks refuge from her mental and physical inhibitions by pursuing an unusual hobby; and Amanda, a former Southern Belle and mother in denial of her children’s dreams.
