Stephanie J. Block is a native Californian who has just recently made the move to New York. Her most recent credits include Ginger in I Love a Piano which premiered at the Denver Center this summer, Tzietle in Fiddler on the Roof (Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera), BabyLove in The Grass Harp (Pasadena Playhouse) MaryJane in James Joyce’s The Dead (Ahmanson Theatre and The Kennedy Center), Nancy in Oliver and the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Los Angeles’ theatre critics have awarded Stephanie the L.A. Robby Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl and as Corine in Triumph of Love and she has been nominated for a 2002 Ovation Award for her work as Polly in Crazy for You. Stephanie also originated the part of Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) in Los Angeles for Stephen Schwartz’s new musical Wicked. When not on stage, her voice is being recorded for numerous CDs and commercial jingles including singing the voice of Barbie for Mattel. Stephanie thanks the Good Lord for her amazing life and many blessings. Love to Bret, family and friends.
