Janet Aldrich performed Commissioner Doyle in “Annie Warbucks” at MOC after chewing the office scenery as Miss Hannigan in “Annie” there last fall. She debuted on Broadway in “Annie” as the Star To Be over 20 years ago. Since then, she has been featured in 5 other Broadway shows including Me And My Girl as Lady Jacqueline and Maligna in Starmites (featured on the original cast recording). She has had the great fortune to work with award winning directors including Gene Saks, Bob Fosse, Martin Charnin, Tommy Tune and Mr. George Abbott. Janet played Karen, the betraying supporting lead in Applause (choreographed by Anne Reinking) in the Papermill Playhouse’s Broadway-bound production with Stefanie Powers, and has been featured as profoundly misled women on Guiding Light, As The World Turns, and Another World. Theatrical awards include the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for Forbidden Broadway, and a Victoire de la Musique for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in the all-French hit production of Cabaret in Paris, as well as nominations for Critics Choice Awards for her Rose in “Song of Singapore” and The Baker’s Wife in “Into the Woods”. Film credits include Blossom in A&E’s “Ringers”, and Dr. Ruth Westheimer’s secretary in “Une Femme ou Deux” In Montclair Janet is also known as Molly and George’s Mom, Carlos’ wife, and that colorful woman who is always playing tennis.
