is pleased to be returning to the "new" Paper Mill Playhouse, having conducted the last musical, Fiorello, in the "pre-fire" Playhouse! Prior to co-conducting Paper Mill’s 60th Anniversary Gala, Michael completed the National Tour of Damn Yankees starring Jerry Lewis. Earlier in 1997, he conducted the five-month return engagement of Phantom at the Westchester Broadway Theatre. Since 1990, Michael has worked extensively with Tommy Tune, as musical director for Bye-Bye Birdie (National Tour co-starring Ann Reinking), Tommy Tune Tonight! on Broadway, as well as conducting Mr. Tune’s numerous national concert appearances, including "The Tonight Show" (with Jay Leno) and numerous New Year’s Eve engagements at New York’s prestigious Rainbow Room. Other national and international credits include: Grease, Grand Hotel, Rudolph Nureyev in The King and I, Me and My Girl, West Side Story (starring Jack Wagner), South Pacific (starring Robert Goulet and Barbara Eden), Fiddler on the Roof (starring Herschel Bernardi), and Guys and Dolls (starring Leslie Uggams and Richard Roundtree). Michael has been privileged to work with such luminaries as George Burns, Carol Channing, Shirley Jones, Robert Morse, Ann Blyth, Don Ameche, Lucy Arnaz, Larry Kert, Liliane Montevecchi, and Charles Pierce.
