Ethan McSweeny Biography

Directed the New York premiere of Never The Sinner in 1998. The Leopold and Loeb drama won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Play of 1998, and also garnered five Helen Hayes Award nominations, two Drama Desk nominations, and three additional Outer Critics Circle nominations, including one for Best Director. Mr. McSweeny has directed at many of America’s most prominent theatre companies, including the Shakespeare Theatre, Signature Theatre Company, the Alley Theatre, the Guthrie Theatre, and the Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Most recently, he directed the American Regional Premiere of The Beauty Queen Of Leenane at the Alley Theatre.
