is the Director of Artistic Programming at Long Wharf Theatre, where he directed last season’s world premiere of Theresa Rebeck’s Abstract Expression. Prior to joining Long Wharf, Leaming was the Producing Director of Hartford Stage Company, where he directed Alan Ayckbourne’s Intimate Exchanges. From 1992-1996, he was the Artistic Director of Portland Stage Company, where he directed productions of Private Lives, Othello, Mrs. Warren’s Profession, The Illusion, Arms and the Man, Three Postcards, The Baltimore Waltz, On the Verge, and the world premieres of Jeffrey Hatcher’s The Turn of the Screw, Keith Curran’s Church of the Sole Survivor and Connie Congdon’s Losing Father’s Body. For the last two productions, he received awards from the W. Alton Jones New Plays Program.
