Charles Cioffi is best known for his classic performance as the killer in Klute. His varied film career has included the award-winning film Missing and Shaft, as well as All The Right Moves, Newsies, and Used People with Shirley MacLaine and Marcello Mastroianni. On Broadway, he appeared in Chinese Coffee opposite Al Pacino, Stand Up Tragedy, and as John Hancock in 1776. His classical roles include Claudius in Hamlet and the title role in King Lear (both at Lincoln Center), and the title role in MacBeth at Long Wharf Theatre.
