Frits Ferres started his career at the Royal Theatre in The Hague, the Dutch government's residence, where he was trained as a teacher and director. Following his education he experimented with his own scenario's and performance like events. From 1984 till 1991 Frits Ferres was the artistic director of a touring repertory company. Since 1993 he is the chair of the faculty of Drama of Constantijn Huygens, school for fine and performing arts. He directed over 40 productions including Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare, Dante's Divine Comedy (with a cast of over 200 actors). Barrie's Peter Pan, Pirandello's Six Characters In Search of an Author and The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder. Frits Ferres also directed a number of musicals, including the Rocky Horror Show. His next production in The Netherlands will be Jesus Christ Superstar.
