Howard Whitmore

has been the director of vocal music at Linden HS for the past two years. A graduate of Westminster Choir College, Howard has worked extensively both on stage and behind the scenes in numerous operatic and theatrical productions. At LHS, he has musically directed the last two productions, Crazy For You, which garnered a Papermill Playhouse Rising S.T.A.R. award for "Best Chorus" and Damn Yankees, which has been nominated for numerous awards. Regionally, Howard has performed with the Union County Arts Center, Linden Summer Playhouse, the Sayreville Main Street Theater Company, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Favorite roles have included "Beadle Bamford" in Sweeney Todd, "Jud Fry" in Oklahoma, and "Moose" in Crazy For You. An accomplished classical vocalist as well, Howard has appeared in recitals in Princeton and Elizabeth and concerts with the New York Philharmonic, NJ Symphony Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in the winer of 1994 with the Westminster Symphonic Choir and the Orchestra of St. Luke's in Bernstein's Chichester Psalms.
