Jane Connell Biography

was Mrs. Peachum in ThreePenny Opera at the Paper Mill in the early ’60s with Gypsy Rose Lee. She returned years later in The Foreigner and in Me and My Girl, re-creating the role of the Duchess, for which she had received a Tony nomination. Best known as the original Agnes Gooch in Mame (and in the movie with Lucy), she is recalled by "Bewitched" fans as Queen Victoria. Miss Connell worked at Le Ruban Bleu and in cabaret for Julius Monk and was in the Theatre de Lys’ ThreePenny Opera. She originated the role of Mother in Broadway’s Crazy For You. Other recent Broadway appearances include original casts of Lend Me A Tenor and Crazy For You.
